Spanish ports are looking for 17,000 professionals on the verge of retirement.

Spanish ports are entering a crucial phase as they face the major generational shift brought on by the retirement of the baby boomers. The need for personnel is in the thousands, and the required skills are quite different from the demands placed on port infrastructure to date, due to the ongoing transformation to adapt to the changing times. Consequently, the urgency will not be so much about finding less skilled workers, such as dockworkers, but rather about attracting professionals with expertise in the energy transition, digitalization, and the automation of operations. How many people will be needed? Between 12,000 and 17,000 new workers, according to estimates by Ocean Capital Partners (OCP).
