Sasha Romashova, Malaga's megayacht marina is too small

Some of the world's largest and most luxurious private yachts have become accustomed to calling at the port of Málaga. Occupancy at the so-called IGY Málaga Marina (the marina encompassing docks 1 and part of 2) has reached "exceptional levels" this year. The docks have been at 100% capacity practically throughout the autumn, and as a result, mooring space has had to be made available at other docks. But even this hasn't been enough to meet all the requests. Demand has been so high that, at certain times, due to a lack of available space, the marina's management has had to divert vessels anchored in the bay awaiting berths to other ports, such as Gibraltar. "Málaga is now a key port and is well-positioned on the map for owners and captains, who previously always went to Palma and Barcelona," says its commercial director, Sasha Romashova.
