Ports accelerate their complex journey towards decarbonization

In Spain, the Sustainable Mobility Law, currently in the parliamentary process, lays the foundations for the decarbonization of ports to take place in a more effective and planned manner. "Both ships and port infrastructures are large consumers of energy and betting on this transformation will require investments in the millions of dollars," says Sara Blanco, head of consulting at Ocean Capital Partners. In fact, the digitization and decarbonization of transport in Spain "will raise the Spanish GDP by 27,300 million euros per year due to the deployment of this new regulatory framework," she adds.
