The new European regulations on emissions in maritime transport could have serious consequences for the sector in Spain, with an impact that could exceed 100 million euros in the coming years for shipping companies. This is reflected in a report prepared by the international firm specializing in the port sector Ocean Capital Partners (OCP) estimates that the incorporation of maritime transport to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) will mean an extra cost for merchant ships entering Spain of more than 99 million in 2025 and 142 million in 2026.
